19 Random Facts

Here we go, 19 random facts about yours truly. Hopefully it isn't too boring.

1. I've done a Polar Bear Dip up north. I can't quite remember but it was the end of January so it was in the 30's with tons of snow on the ground. Who knows how cold the water was. Even though it was painful, the whole experience was so much fun. Unsure if I'd do it again.

2. I'd do just about anything for a T-shirt. See above.

3. Until I was 19 years old I refused to carry a purse and had a bi-fold man's wallet. I've clearly changed, a lot.

4. I've had the same best friend for over 20 years :)

5. I cannot stand  when t-shirts have a baggy neck. It gives me anxiety.

6. I memorized Wizard of Oz by the time I was 3 years old.

7. I can match any smell to any situation.

8. One of the most disgusting things in the world to me is when someone takes off a sock and puts it BACK ON. Gross.

9. I despise seafood and mushrooms.

10. I love Christmas so much, I could watch Christmas movies every day. And I practically do.

11. I fall. A lot.

12. I've had an obsession with John Deere since I worked in Parks.

13. I love torturing myself by watching scary movies/tv shows alone.

14. I want to move to Tennessee so bad it hurts.

15. I love Tim Tebow. Actually, it's not love, it's something deeper. We were meant to be, he just doesn't know it yet.

16. I never thought I'd have a pet, let alone understand those crazy pet loving people...yet here we are.  

17. I once peed my pants at a carnival and had to drive people home after with a blanket wrapped around my legs.

18. I love cooking and baking. I bake a lot, even though I don't like cake, cupcakes or frosting. More for the guys at work!

19. I never have, and never will, be able to take naps. Do not want.

I don't know what to write...so here you go.

Alright, I really am in the mood to write tonight...and wouldn't you know, I have a blog to do so! One problem, I have no topic. I could bore you with the same old "school's going well..." or random tidbits like how unbelievable it is that at my age, i still manage to get soap in my eyes nearly every time i shower...


But i decided to do a question tag instead. I googled "questions tag" and hit "blogs" and the only one that came up (39743987898 times) was an 11 Question Tag that looked far too involved for me. So I found an older one floating around that I'm sure I've completed at some point or another but here's an updated version for you. (Lucky you.)


1.Where were you 3 hours ago? In the family room, watching the behind the scenes of the last One Tree Hill episode, even though I haven't watched that show in probably 4 years.


2.Is there anything pink within 10 feet of you? My bed sheet is a fuchsia color, does that count?


3.What are you wearing right now? Good ol' John Deere sweats and a Stanley Cup shirt...GO WINGS!


4.What are the colours of your bedroom walls? They're still unfinished. I have the two short (accent) walls a pewter/gunmetal grey color but the longer walls are still builder's beige. I'll finish them one day, maybe.

5.Who is the last person you sent a message or comment /BBM? It's funny you should mention BBM. I never understood the point of it...but my sister PING!!!s me all the time, so her.


6.What does your last text message say? "I will." (She hasn't.)

7.Can You Taste The Difference Between Pepsi And Coke? Oh hell yes. Always. Pepsi is too syrupy...Coke is much better and more classic :)
8.Is your hair curly or straight? Somewhere in between. I wish it would pick a side.


9.Which is the hardest thing you ever had to do? This is a tough one. Maybe give up on someone.


10.Favorite 2 color combination? I really love grey and yellow. Or grey and neon pink. Anything with grey, really.


11.What is your favorite accessory? Probably my watches.


12.Which current celebrity's style do you admire most? I really love Sarah Jessica Parker's hair because it's always changing and I love Jennifer Aniston's medium bob. I think that's the haircut I'll get next.


13.What is your favorite fashion store/shop? I think Old Navy because it's trendy, cheap and around the corner from my work.


14.When was the last time you drove out of town? I guess in October when I went to my best friend's baby shower up north.


15.With the exception of the computer, what can you hear? Discovery ID something about the Miami police. They say the first step is admitting...I'm an #idaddict.




16.What was the last thing you bought? Jimmy Johns...Turkey Tom what what.


17.What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? I don't think...I pick up my phone and get rid of the email icon on the top. All the emails that come at 2 am are newsletters and spam.


18.Favorite Food? Mexican!


19.Biggest turn off? People who take themselves too seriously.



20.What do you always have on you/wear? My industrial bar, bobby pins and lip balm.




21.What does your screen name mean/ how did you come up with it? Well, I have always worked with all guys. I love it, I really don't know if I'd survive being cooped up with catty women all day. Guys are usually anti drama but they love to gossip more than girls. Best of both worlds. (You gotta watch out for bad moods though, as the guys at work tell me "Men have periods, too." Yikes.)


22.Favorite style of top/blouse? What a random question. I like V neck tshirts that are long. I hate a shirt that is too short in length. I also despise cap sleeves.

23.Favourite TV show It has always been Forensic Files and King of Queens...but there's many more I enjoy now. Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, Snapped, E! Investigates, Who the Bleep Did I Marry, 20/20 on ID & A&E, Walking Dead and my current favorite, GCB. I'm probably forgetting about 23 more shows.

24.What is a favorite TV show from your childhood? I loved Under the Umbrella Tree and shoes like Where in the World is Carmen San Diego and Ghostwriter...Even Stevens, Ren & Stimpy...the list could go on forever.




25.What does your dream bedroom look like? Ok...here we go...lots of crisp white elements with rustic touches, a big fluffy down comforter, tons of white pillows, pale blue-grey walls, pine rafters, a fireplace, lots of natural light, wispy curtains, tons of fresh cut hydrangeas, giant closet and bathroom with marble counter tops...not that I've thought about it or anything.

Christmas Tag!

I was browsing holiday blog topics on Google and came across this survey type tag...brings me back to the old days of MySpace bulletins :)

But before I start the questions, I just wanted to give a shout out to my very best friend in the whole wide world, Lindsay. She lives 4 hours away from me currently (sad face) but we still talk every single day. She finally decided to start a blog tonight and I couldn't be more excited! Go check her out!! ->

Ok, here we go!

Christmas Tag!
1.) Wrapping Paper or Gift Bags? I'd say wrapping paper. Ever since I was little I've loved wrapping gifts. Especially perfectly square or rectangle ones! Gift bags are helpful for lots of small or odd shaped packages though.

2.) Tree; Real or Fake? Fake. As much as I like the smell and look of a real tree, it's just too much to keep up with! Plus you only have to purchase a fake tree once!
3.) When do you put the tree up? I always get so anxious to put it up. This year, we put it up the weekend after Halloween. Hey-the holiday season starts November 1st as far as I'm concerned.
4.) When do you take the tree down? The week after New Years. Once the holidays are over I become a little bored with them. I take everything down in hopes that the cold weather will go away with them.
5.) Like Eggnog? LOVE eggnog is more like it. Guernsey's to be more specific. I sometimes like to mix it with a little milk because it can be so thick...I really feel bad for people that live where Guernsey's isn't available :)
6.) Do you have a Nativity Scene? Nope just icicle lights.
7.) Favorite Gift Received as a Child? I think it would be my Tiffany's Necklace. It's a pad lock type one and I can't seem to find it right now. I moved 3 times last year so it's my mission to locate it before the end of December 2010.
8.) Hardest person to buy for? Probably my dad. He has everything he needs and if he wants something he usually buys it for himself.
9.) Easiest person to buy for? I think that would be my mom. She never spends money on herself and I see her so often that I know exactly what she wants.
10.) Worst Gift?  I can't really think of a bad gift I've received. 11.) Mail or E-mail Christmas cards? Mail. I didn't send any this year and I'm trying not to feel guilty about it. I just think it wastes more paper and I'm going to tell most of them "Merry Christmas" in person anyway.
12.) Favorite Christmas Movie? I really love The Grinch with Jim Carrey, Christmas Vacation, Christmas with the Cranks, Elf, Christmas Story...I just love everything Christmas I guess.
13.) When do you start shopping for Christmas presents? Throughout the year, if I see something I think someone would like, I pick it up and put it in the Christmas bag. I usually end up giving those presents away for everyone's Birthday's during the year but I like to do a little at a time. I have 3 more things to pick up and I'm done.
14.) Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I'm sure I have. My Aunt gave me a candle shaped like a dog with a note inside about how it was a "precious family heirloom." That gift seems to be re-gifted annually.
15.) Favorite food to eat on Christmas? Sounds odd, but breakfast. I look forward to the big breakfast on Christmas morning. Our family doesn't have a typical Christmas dinner. Of course I can't forget about the cookies and Aunt Joanie's Toffee though ;)
16.) Clear or colored tree lights? Clear for sure.
17.) Favorite Christmas Song? Mariah Carey-All I want for Christmas is You, N*Sync-Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Aaron Neville-Come Home for Christmas (the Eagles version is a close second), Wham-Last Christmas (NOT the Taylor Swift version, it's horrible.) :)
18.) Home or Travel? Home please.
19.) Store-bought or handmade? I wish I had enough time/creativity to hand-make gifts. But they can sometimes end up being more expensive than store-bought anyway!
20.) Angel or Star as a tree-topper? Neither. A big bow instead.
21.) Open presents on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve? Christmas Eve at my Dad's, Christmas Day at my Mom's. 

22.) Most annoying thing about this time of year? The stress and rushing. And the bitter cold weather.

23.) Bake at home or buy? Definitely bake at home! Baking's my favorite!

24.) Lights outside? Yup, our first year! Icicles.
25.) Mistletoe? I've never actually seen any in person other than at a store once. So I guess no.

40 BEAUTY QUESTIONS TAG!!

I'm just gonna say I was tagged by someone who tagged everyone :) Yay for my first tag!

SKINCARE

How many times do you wash your face daily?
I want to say twice...but it's usually only once. I usually take a shower at night, so I was my face in the shower and then I put my lotion and eye cream on and some spot treatment if needed and then when I wake up in the morning, unless my face feels really greasy I normally just use toner and start my makeup process from there. I don't want to wash it too much and risk my face drying out.

What type of skin do you have?
I have combination/oily and acne prone skin :-/

What is your current facial wash?
I use Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub. I have a thing about face washes. I refuse to use one that is just a foaming cleanser. I feel like they don't really get the makeup off all the way or get really into my pores unless it's slightly abrasive. I think the Aveeno scrub has a good balance of cleansing power and just enough "gritty-ness." I have noticed my skin tone is has evened itself out, which is one of the claims. I want to try the Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Scrub but I already have 2 extra bottles of the Skin Brightening Scrub because I bought them for about half price in the short-lived bulk section at Target.

Do you exfoliate?
I kind of look at my cleanser/scrub as a daily exfoliator. But once or twice a week, I use St. Ive's Blemish and Blackhead Control Apricot Scrub. I feel like this would be way too abrasive to use everyday but it's good especially if you've been gardening or sweating all day. You can use it on your body too, you feel so fresh after. I've been using that product for years, like before I even cared about makeup. Highly recommended :)

What brand do you use?
See above! I really should learn to read all the questions first...

What moisturizer do you use?
I used to use the Clean & Clear Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer and it worked really well. It didn't cause me to break out and it moisturized enough without feeling greasy. When my bottle ran out I decided to try something new, my face was clear and I was looking more to illuminate my skin. So I tried Clean & Clear Morning Glow Moisturizer. I loved how it looked and felt but who was I kidding? The only reason my skin looked good was because of the products I was using before. So then came the breakouts...I needed to switch back to the Dual Action but I opted for the CVS brand instead. Seems to be doing a great job for about $2 less. Score.

Do you have freckles?
More in the summertime all over my nose. I kind of like them.

Do you use eye cream?
Yes, I'm trying to be better at using it nightly. I use Clinique All About Eyes.

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Yes, I have sensitive skin that is acne prone, especially if I don't stick to a routine.

Did you ever have to use Proactiv?
Yes I did use it for a few months. I was desperate to clear my skin and my mom bought it for me. The moisturizer was the smallest bottle yet I always had so much of that left over. The toner was extremely drying. Not for me.

MAKEUP

What foundation do you use?
I use Revlon PhotoReady. I know there is a lot of controversy about this product but I really like it. I don't find it too shimmery. I just wish it had a little fuller coverage. But I love the pump!

How about concealer?
I LOVE my Clinique Advanced Concealer. I love how it dries into almost a powder like finish. It sets itself and doesn't budge. Terrific concealer.

Do you know your undertone color?
I've never had anyone at MAC tell me what my shade is but I know I have pink undertones. I don't even get tan, I just get pink. Plus my veins are blue.

What do you think of false eyelashes?
I don't know how to apply them, I don't really think they're worth it unless you're going to a really special event of some sort. I've never even used an eyelash curler. I'm fortunate to already have thick, long lashes so I'm grateful for that.

Did you know you're supposed to change your mascara every three months?
Yes, I've heard that. I go by how the mascara feels. If it is still fine with no clumps I'll let it go a little longer, especially since I'm the only one who uses it. If it starts to dry out, I'll throw it out early.

What brand mascara do you use?
Honestly, the only high end mascara I've tried is Clinique. My current favorite is Rimmel Maxx Volume Flash. It really does add volume. If I'm going out somewhere at night, or I want to be a little more fancy, I'll use the Rimmel mascara first and then I'll use Rimmel Glam 'Eyes Lash Flirt on the ends of my lashes. It really separates and lengthens. Ta Daa...perfect lashes!

Sephora or MAC?
Oh that's a tough one. It's hard to even compare. Sephora carries all kinds of wonderful brand name products and MAC only carries one. A better question would have been Sephora or Ulta...but stop, Biz, that wasn't the case. I really don't think I can choose. Both!

Do you have a MAC Pro Card?
Nope :( One day.

What makeup tools do you use in makeup application?
I use a ton of brushes and Q-Tips.

Do you use a makeup base/primer for the eyes?
Yes. I use Urban Decay Primer Potion first-always. Then if I feel like I need a base I'll use a MAC Paint Pot or a NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil. Creasing makes me cringe.

For the face?
The first primer I owned was a Revlon Age Defying one that I got on clearance for about 2 bucks and I happened to love it. But I'm currently in love with the LOREAL Paris Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base. It makes your skin feel so soft and also mattifies it immediately. Lovely.

What is your favorite eye shadow (color or shade)?
Oh I have so many favorites. But it ultimately boils down to Truffle by Ulta and Satin Taupe by MAC. I'm also currently loving Garnet by Lorac (which I bought for a steal!!) Lorac has such good texture, perfect for blending. And I've always liked coppery shades to go with my blue eyes.

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
I normally use pencil just because it's faster but if I have time I like to use a gel eyeliner. Rarely ever liquid.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner?
Rarely. Its normally the mascara that gets me.

What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
Ok, here we go. I love the color payoff of pigments. They are gorgeous. I just think they make such a mess. I need to try and press my pigments when i get a chance. My sister uses nothing but loose shadows. I just hate fallout and find them time consuming. It feels like they weren't finished when i bought them or something. I don't know, I really need to just press them and get over myself.

Do you use mineral makeup?
Rarely. I used to use Bare Minerals and then I swore by the Maybelline Mineral Power but I've just been trying so many different things, I stopped using them. I do love a good mineral veil though.

What is your favorite lipstick?
That's another hard question. I've really been into Viva Glam Gaga-I know overhyped, overrated, whatever, I love it. I also frequently use E.L.F. Natural Nymph and Revlon Baby Pink.

What about lipgloss?
MAC Little Vi and Maybelline Born with It.

What's your favorite blush to use?
My all time favorite blush is Physician's Formula Baked Blush in Baked Berry. When the ban is up I need to buy backups on Amazon. I also love NYX Powder Blush in Natural.

Do you buy your makeup on Ebay?
I never have before, no. It's a lot of work to make sure they aren't fakes.

Do you like drugstore makeup?
I love it. Just like with high end makeup, there are things that are fabulous and things that are nothing special. A lot of products that I have a drugstore version and a high end version of, I like the drugstore just as much or more than the high end version. Of course, for collection reasons, I love all the pretty packages of MAC, Urban Decay and other more expensive brands ;)

Do you go to CCO's? (Cosmetic Company Outlets)
Yes! I hit up my CCO as much as I can. Unfortunately, the closest one to me is almost 2 hours away. But you can't beat the deals and the products that are discontinued at the MAC or Clinique counters. I remember the first time I watched a CCO haul video on YouTube. I was like, "Wait...wait...what? How could I have not known about this?"

Did you ever consider taking makeup classes?
Yes, I think I may still. There's always more to learn and I think I have a knack for it.

Are you clumsy putting on makeup?
I try not to be. And once you have a standard everyday routine down, everything pretty much falls into place. I also have a touch of OCD so...that helps. But then again sometimes I'll get into the car and look in the daylight and it's like "what happened?"

Name a makeup crime that you hate.
Ughhh, when someone's foundation ends at their chin and it's not blended into their neck at all! Like they have a mask on or something.

Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipsticks, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
I really want to love colorful stuff but it's just not me. For night I might use purple eyeshadow or something but I like light lips, nudes, pinks and for eyes I like taupes, tans, greens, browns. You can't go wrong that way.

Which celebrity always has good makeup?
Kim Kardashian! I'm working on some tutorials of hers. She is absolutely gorgeous. I love her nude lips and dark eyes with defined cheeks.

If you could leave the house using just ONE makeup item, what would you use?
Ahh, this makes me nervous just thinking about it! I'd have to say foundation. But I think I'd need concealer and eyeliner and mascara as well. Alright, foundation. Final answer.

Could you ever leave the house with no makeup on?
Yes, and, sorry to say, I have before. To the drugstore or gas station. But I just feel more confident with makeup on, even if its mineral.

Do you think you look good without makeup on?
I think I'm ok without it. Its just my dark circles and imperfections that bother me.

In your opinion, what's the BEST makeup line?
That's too hard to pick but if I had to, I guess I'd say MAC. But I love drugstore lines as well.

What do you think of makeup?
I love it! Its such a fun way to express yourself!
